Compass Guide Evaluation of Day Software
Summary
Founded in 1993, Day has long been a technological visionary in the WCM market. Since the mid-90s the vendor has experienced
extreme loyalty from IT departments under pressure to produce and maintain technically flexible Java enterprise architectures.
From the outset, Day instinctively understood the need for Systems-Oriented Architectures (SOA), of which it was a pioneer.
But lack of attention to business users’ requirements until 2008 caused Day considerable trouble. After introducing elegant
new user interfaces, Day has begun to compete successfully against its market-leading peers.

About Compass Guide™ Reports
The Compass Guide™ to Web Content Management is a comprehensive series of product/vendor evaluations designed to help potential buyers of WCM technologies identify the software best suited to their needs. The reports are based on information from a wide range of sources, including:
- Product testing conducted by Ars Logica at over 30 WCM software manufacturers’ headquarters
- More than a dozen years of analyzing and recommending WCM software products/vendors
- Extensive knowledge of actual WCM implementations and the business problems they were designed to solve
- WCM vendor responses to an exhaustive 172-item questionnaire
- Experience helping vendors evaluate features and functions for future product versions
In 2009 and 2010, Ars Logica founder Tony White traveled to most of the software vendors covered in these reports for hands-on product testing. This is unique in the industry. Because of both the breadth of information included in Compass Guide™ and the fact that the Compass Guide™ is in no way vendor-sponsored, we believe that it is the most unbiased and thoroughly-researched set of reports available.
The full series will include 35 product evaluation reports, which will be available for download for free at Arslogica.com/compass_guide_reports
